It has been a while. I’m happy to finally get back to the newsletter.
Recently, I have been watching season two of Ted Lasso on Apple TV. I mentioned the show it in my very first Art Crusade newsletter. Even though Ted Lasso is a comedy. it manages to share lovely insight and warmth about life.
Roy Kent, the irritable, gruff, and now-retired football player gives some advice on relationships in episode one.
“He’s fine. That’s it. Nothing wrong with that, most people are fine. But it’s not about him. It’s about why the f*** you think he deserves you. You deserve someone who makes you feel like you’ve been struck by f***ing lightning. Don’t you dare settle for fine.”
While this advice is good relationship advice, it is also good career advice. How often do we settle for a job or a career that is fine? Like Roy says, most jobs are fine and there is nothing wrong with that.
What if your job or career made you feel like you were struck by lightning?

For me, drawing and illustration are the lightening that I chase. I have been struggling to get my spark back and keep it.
I walked away from fine last week, so that I could chase my lightning once more.
I hope we all find jobs and relationships that make us feel like we are struck by lightning.

I love Aimee’s work, but at times it can be more heavy and contemplative. If you want the struck by lightning feeling and energy. Queen’s song ends episode two with the reappearance of a controversial teammate.
