Much of the northern hemisphere is seeing the emergence of spring and with it mother nature using her boldest colors to brighten the once dreary landscape of winter.
“When spring came, even the false spring, there were no problems except where to be happiest. “
― Ernest Hemingway, A Moveable Feast
The bright spring colors around us, hopefully, make us happy and vibrant. Color plays an important part in how we perceive the world around us. Professionals in design, fashion, architecture, and art are constantly exploring and experimenting to find just the right colors to express a feeling or emotion, as well as create aesthetically pleasing works. It has been said that color requires less time to "read" than any other means form of communication.
How can we capture these beautiful colors around us to use in our art, fashion, decorating, and other projects? We can go hunting for colors both in the real world and the digital by using color picking tools.
The App I have been using lately is Swatches.
apps.apple.com/us/app/swatches-live-color-picker/id964993762
It is an iOS App for iOS devices. I’m sure there are plenty out there for other platforms. I like Swatches because it lets me use the camera to pick colors live and at the moment, or I can use a photo later to pick colors. Other helpful features include creating your own palettes and copying and pasting color codes.
Whatever color picking tool you choose, be sure to have fun while exploring the world around you. Happy color hunting!
