This past weekend, my wife, youngest daughter, and I made a whirlwind trip from Ohio to Tennessee to see my granddaughter’s first birthday. We were excited about seeing the grandbaby on her big day and all of our family.
We weren’t excited about 20 hours of driving in three days or driving in the remnants of Hurricane Helene (lots and lots of rain).
At a gas station in Tennessee, my daughter and I were standing near the entrance when this young boy came in wearing what could only be described as letting your small child pick out their own outfit. He was happy with his mismatched shirt, shorts, and cowboy boots. I knew that I would have to create a cartoon version of him later.
Travel Art Kit
I used to travel a lot for work, so I came up with a minimal set of drawing tools to carry with me at all times, also for business meetings.
These are my three art tools to carry around.
Paper Mate Flair Felt Tip Pen for both thick and thin lines.
Tombow Fudenosuke Brush Pen for thin and variable width lines.
Pentel Multi 8 Lead Holder for initial blue sketches and coloring.
Be kind to yourself on your creative journey.

You made it to the end of the newsletter. All of the clouds and rain over the weekend made me think of the Sesame Street theme song. Seeing the family on a day of celebration chased all of the clouds away, if only in your minds. 😊

That's a cool little travel sketch skit! The multi-lead holder is something I've never seen before. I love the rain image even if I don't like the inspiration.
